Location: Toronto, ON

In 1990 EGD was contracted to complete work at a private residence in Toronto’s beautiful High Park neighborhood. Several pieces of commissioned stained glass were needed to complete the client’s home renovations.

EGD worked closely with the client to come up with a variety of stained glass pieces to use throughout the house. Eve Guinan’s contemporary designs were implemented as windows and installed into walls, doors, fireplaces, solarium and cabinets. They were truly an artistic addition to each setting.

Eve designed and installed narrow leaded lites into sections of the solarium to add design without taking away from the view of the ravine and park, which the home backed onto. A large Buddha, which the panels framed to emphasize the spirit and attention, was to be the focal point of the room.

Contemporary pieces were made for the front and rear entrance doors to the house, while other sliding doors on the interior donned mirrored stained glass creations.

An iridescent tiled fireplace was decided upon, flanked by two long stained glass windows. The focal point of the room was a portrait of a woman which hung above the fireplace. The flanking stained glass windows were designed as a contemporary extension of the portrait.

Panels were designed and built for the staircases landing window. Glass was produced and installed into cabinets holding fine china. Other glass work was produced for custom made wardrobes and vanities in the bedrooms.

Finally, a vaulted wall with stained glass inlay was created as the upstairs hallway wall, hiding a second set of stairs which led to the homes third floor.

Eve Guinan exceeded the client’s expectations with her innovative designs which worked harmoniously in their home, adding the perfect finishing details to this urban hideaway.
